Be brave.

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
Everybody’s been there, everybody’s been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
Innocence, your history of silence
Won’t do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

Brave by Sara Bareilles

This song. These words. Such powerful speech into the lives of those that struggle with being brave. I’ve listened to this song quite often over the years. There is so much encouragement and truth in these lyrics! We live in such a harsh world with so much entitlement and careless people that have no ounce of care in how they treat others. The bullying. The gossip. The hate. I struggle deeply with needing to ‘please’ others. I say ‘yes’ instead of ‘no’ because I don’t want to upset. I never used to be this bad…. it bothers me deeply to think that someone doesn’t like me or is mad at me. These thoughts and feelings are lies from the enemy.. he knows exactly where to get me. God is trying to speak these words of bravery into my life and I struggle to hear them. I know I am not alone in this. There are lots of people out there that need to hear these words as much as I do on a regular basis. You are brave. Say what you want to say… but do it with love. Don’t be harsh. People who hurt others are deeply hurting themselves. Instead of lashing out we need to pray for them. I think of this often.. people who hurt others are deeply hurting themselves.. remember that. ❤

Poison.

20180531_193042.jpg

Hiding in my beautiful rose bush was this nasty beast! Poison sumac… oh, how I hate you. Sneaky… is what it is! Every year when I start to do my weeding around the house I get poison! I never knew what sumac looked like so I had no idea that it was in 4 places around my house. I have poison on both my arms and my stomach. No fun! But I am so glad that I did a little research and found this stuff because I am very allergic to all of it! 😡 Now to get rid of it… any tips are welcome!

“You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.” ~Joyce Meyer

1. Recognize and accept their toxicity
First and foremost, it is important to identify and accept that someone we know is a negative person. This can be difficult, especially when the person is someone we care about. Either way, we must be careful not to allow their negativity to transfer onto us. We need to accept that negativity is toxic and will only breed more negativity. It is especially important to avoid complainers. People who complain have given up hope that their actions can make any difference. We must be careful not to enable complainers by always listening to their woes.

2. Stop playing savior and/or problem solver
As human beings, we are wired to connect. For most of us, it is in our nature to lend a compassionate ear to someone who is in need…
